On Thursday 21 September 2000, GENESIS reformed with Phil Collins for a one-off performance in honour of their legendary manager Tony Smith. The setting was the Music Managers Forum, staged this year at London's Hilton Hotel, where Tony picked up the prestigious Peter Grant Award for Outstanding Achievement.

The Hilton Hotel plays host to many an industry schmooze-in. On this occasion, the invited audience included most of the top players in the global music business. Managers, agents, record company executives and numerous recording artists filled the tables. Conventional wisdom states that music industry audiences are the toughest to please.
